As some of you know, we have a Mascot here at LDRC! He is a 14-year-old dachshund named Fritz. He stays home more now that he is getting a bit older. However, he still makes an appearance at the annual Howl-O-Ween & Downtown Doxie Dash. He is still sharp for his age. So, we thought, what better way to honor our little man and grow his event with sharp things? We are happy to announce that we have joined forces with Railway Knives to offer Forge Under the Oaks featuring Howl-O-Ween (and the Downtown Doxie Dash!) 
Our annual event will be held on Saturday, October 19th at Barron Park in beautiful Downtown LaBelle from 9am to 4pm.
Railway Knives, known for its distinctive craftsmanship, is a valued partner in this event, joining forces with diverse artisans who are enthusiastic about presenting their creations to our area. The event promises to be an immersive experience where attendees can witness firsthand the intricate process of forging and shaping metal. From the rhythmic hammering on the anvil to the precise honing of blades, each step will be a testament to the skill and dedication of these artisans. 
In addition to the blacksmithing demonstrations, there will be a variety of vendors on display, offering a unique opportunity to explore different wares. Attendees will have the chance to interact with the artisans, ask questions, and even purchase one-of-a-kind pieces to take home.

With live music, local food vendors, and a vibrant community atmosphere, the event promises to celebrate creativity and tradition. We are excited to welcome you to a day filled with inspiration, learning, and the joy of handmade artistry.
Our Downtown Doxie Dash kicked off five years ago and is still strong. We love that you love your pets! The smiles we witness during the races is one of our most heartwarming experiences. Each year, the event seems to grow bigger and better, bringing together a community of dog lovers and their adorable dachshunds. Every participant brings unique charm and energy to the track, from the tiniest pups to the most seasoned racers. The excitement in the air is palpable as the dogs line up at the starting gate, tails wagging in anticipation.
Families and friends gather along the sidelines, cheering and laughing as the dachshunds (and wiener wannabes) dash toward the finish line. The joy on the faces of both the dogs and their owners is infectious, creating a sense of camaraderie and shared happiness. Whether they win or simply enjoy the run, every dog is celebrated and showered with affection. Beyond the races, the Downtown Doxie Dash has become a full-fledged festival with pet activities, pet accessory vendors, and fun activities for all ages. It's a day where everyone, regardless of age or background, can come together and revel in life's simple pleasures. We are so grateful for our community's continued support and enthusiasm, and we look forward to many more years of joyful races and wagging tails.
Last but not least, it's close to Halloween so we can't let October go without a costume contest!! Dogs, get rid to show off your creativity! We have several categories to choose from with the potential to win fun prizes! Be sure to dress up your furry friends in their cutest, spookiest, or most hilarious outfits. Categories include " Best Owner & Pet Combo," " Cutest," "Scariest," "Most Unique" and "Funniest," so there's a chance for everyone to shine. Don't forget to snap plenty of photos and share the fun with our community. We can't wait to see all the fantastic costumes and celebrate this spooky season together. Happy Howl-O-Ween, everyone!

YOU WILL NOTICE THE 2020 LOGO HAS AN ADDITION TO IT. WE HAVE RENAMED OUR FUN EVENT, 'LENNY’S DOWNTOWN DOXIE DASH,’ IN MEMORY OF OUR DOWNTOWN LABELLE FRIEND, LENNY LAFOREST. LENNY ACTUALLY CAME UP WITH THE NAME OF THIS FABULOUS RACE. HE HELPED COORDINATE EVERYTHING WIENER DOG INVOLVED AND MADE THE EVENT WHAT IT IS TODAY. FOR THESE MULTIPLE REASONS, THE BOARD OF LDRC THOUGHT THE LEAST WE COULD DO WAS NAME THE RACE AFTER HIM!
